Data Science Nigeria Launches AI for Beginners Video in Yoruba Language
Breaking language barriers to bring AI education to millions of Yoruba speakers across Nigeria.
In a landmark step toward making artificial intelligence education more inclusive, Data Science Nigeria (DSN) has launched the AI for Beginners video in Yoruba language at the 2024 edition of the prestigious Tech Summit Ogun. This marks a pivotal moment in democratizing AI knowledge for Yoruba speakers across Nigeria and beyond.
Following the success of the first-ever AI Beginners video in Hausa, this initiative aligns with the broader mission of inclusivity in tech education, in line with the Honourable Minister of Communication, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani’s commitment to ensuring AI is accessible to all. As a proud son of Ogun State, Dr. Bosun furthers the national effort to make AI available to Nigerians, regardless of language or location, as reflected in the national AI strategy.
As AI becomes central to the global economy, millions are left behind due to language barriers. The AI Beginners video in Yoruba seeks to eliminate these barriers, providing AI education to one of Nigeria’s largest linguistic communities.
By offering this resource in Yoruba, DSN opens new opportunities for learning and innovation, empowering local communities to thrive in the growing AI ecosystem.
Dr. Bosun, a driving force behind digital literacy and AI education initiatives, envisions a fully inclusive digital economy. This project embodies his vision, ensuring that language or socio-economic background does not limit participation in Nigeria’s digital transformation.
The AI Beginners video is now available on DSN’s YouTube channel making it easy for individuals, schools, and community groups to access it.
Additionally, the videos are available across different copying centers and schools across some Southwest states, ensuring that even those without reliable internet access can benefit from this educational resource.
